The Alpha Course
GENERAL INFORMATION MEETING
Date: Sunday, June 18th
Time: 11:30am - 11:45am
Place: Park & Tilford Cinemas
Room: Theatre 5
We're extremely excited to announce that we will be running the Alpha Course this fall! If you're interested in volunteering to help out at Alpha this Fall, have questions or if you just want to hear more about what Alpha is and how we'll be running the course at Westside, please join us for a general info meeting.
Table Leaders Needed:
We are looking for 6+ table leaders to help facilitate discussion over the 8 weeks. If you have a passion for the unsaved and a desire to disciple others, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prayer Team Needed:
We would also like each of the Alpha sessions to be covered in prayer. We’ll be praying for protection, discernment and empowerment as the Spirit works in, and through, the leaders and attenders. There would be no requirement to be at the weekly sessions, as we will be updating on the weekly needs to be prayed for. If you would like to be part of the team, please contact email@example.com.
WHAT IS ALPHA?
ALPHA IS A SERIES OF INTERACTIVE SESSIONS EXPLORING THE BASICS OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH.
Each session looks at a different question, and is designed to create conversation. No two Alphas look the same–they run in coffee shops, churches, bars, prisons, universities, schools and homes. There’s no pressure, no follow-up and no charge; it’s just an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.
Whether it’s a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch-up over coffee, food has a way of bringing people together. It’s no different at Alpha. All sessions start with food, because it’s a great way to connect, relax and build friendships.
The talks are designed to be engaging and inspire conversation. Usually around 30 minutes long, they explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions like “Who is Jesus?”, “Why and how do I pray?” and “How does God guide us?”
Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas about the talk without being corrected or judged. There’s no obligation to say anything; it’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective.
Information on course dates and course details coming soon.
Please attend the General Information Meeting on Sunday, June 11th at 12:45pm at The Centre (777 Homer Street, Vancouver) in the Trap Room to find out more about Alpha.
